Christmas 2013

-->
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”    -Matthew 11:28-30

December 2013

Well, we have officially been in our own Nampa home for a year. I realize that nearly any place on earth can feel like home, but it has been nice to settle into our new nest. This year has been characterized by so much “new” for us as a family.

Kyle and Megan attended an online charter school program from home last year. It was a great transition time to prepare them for public school this year. Megan completed her second semester at the local elementary school, and Kyle began 7th grade at the middle school this fall (both very close to our house). Outside of school, Kyle has faithfully attended Boy Scouts nearly every Tuesday night & Megan has been a part of some art, drama and even gymnastics.

We finished our time with MAF at the end of last year, and in April Todd began working as a mechanic for small planes in a shop at the local airport. He enjoys the work and the guys he works with there. I have been substitute teaching since the spring. The kids and I took the summer off and just enjoyed being together while discovering new things to do in the area and spending time with friends. Our “staycation” was season passes to the local water park where we spent many a hot day.

When we moved back to Nampa we were looking forward to having family close. Todd’s parents, oldest brother and family and some extended family live here in town. Although it is not as often as we would like, it has been wonderful to see the cousins enjoy each other and to spend special days all together.

Another blessing during all of our transitions has been our church family. We are so thankful for the various adults who have really taken time and interest in our kids in particular and for the clear examples of those who faithfully and selflessly serve in creative ways. Kyle is now part of the youth group! (involved in puppets and some drama). Megan is on the leadership team (5th & 6th grade) and helps out with sound/tech for kids’ church.

Diana Flores from Ecuador joined our family on August 25th of this year. J She is spending the school year with us as an exchange student. Since Todd spent six years in Quito back before we met/married it has been fun hearing about the different traditions, ways the country & city have changed since he left and now sharing our community with her.  We have already learned so much and look forward to the rest of the year.

We are so thankful for God’s amazing goodness. Thanks to all who are so good about sending annual updates about their families. It helps us feel closer even if there are miles between us. This year we are planning to spend Christmas & New Years with our TN family. Pray for us as we spend 30+ hours in the car together……each way! It should be a sleepless but wonderful time.

Love and prayers,
The Edgertons
